Amoxycillin (500 mg) + Clavulanic Acid (125 mg) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combination used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin, a penicillin-class antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, while Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects Amoxycillin from degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its antibacterial spectrum. This combination is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections, ear, nose and throat infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, dental infections, bone and joint infections, and other susceptible bacterial infections. It is effective only against bacterial infections and should not be used to treat viral illnesses such as the common cold or influenza.
